Many countries, such as Brazil, had their histories built through the mixing of different peoples. Whether at the beginning of the country’s founding or during its development. Especially in the last century, when the world began to experience an enormous process of globalization. But what does this have to do with me? Let’s explain!
Citizenship is a term used to refer to the fact that a person is considered a citizen of a certain country, that is, he or she is part of that Rule of Law. And that is why there is a small difference between having descendants and having the right to citizenship. Citizenship is granted in accordance with the current legislation of each country. For example, there are countries that only grant the right to citizenship to people born to citizens of that respective country, however there are also countries that grant citizenship through solo birth, that is, if you were born in that country you will have the right to citizenship the same. Furthermore, there are countries that allow their citizens to have dual citizenship and others that do not, such as Ukraine, which only allows its citizens to have Ukrainian citizenship.
There are several other types and aspects that determine a person’s citizenship. Some countries allow the individual to request the recovery of their citizenship, as is the case in Romania, Italy, Portugal and others. And it is these processes that we are talking about. When you are a son, grandson or in some cases great-grandson of citizens of that respective country you automatically have the right to request your citizenship if that citizen lost it for some non-attributable reason, such as immigration, persecution and others.
Now the main question: How do you apply for this citizenship? To complete the process, you will need to create a request dossier. This dossier is made up of several documents that will be delivered to the competent authority to assess your case. In some cases historical documents may be requested (we also explain them in another article). And that is exactly why Consulacemi exists, we prepare your dossier so that you can make your request to the competent authority of the country in which you want to regain your citizenship.
